    In September, 1989, Larry Chowning was aboard the catfishing boat Stepaside II on the Sassafras River near Chesterrtown Maryland. Skipper Buffalo Strong along with crewmember Mark Elbum were fishing for catfilsh with hoopnets, Stepaside II is a Garvey style boat built by Hulls Unlimited of Deltaville, VA and on this day the watermen expected to catch 2,000 pounds of catfish.
