  9. The O.A. Bloxom at Deagle's Railway, 1991 - Negative, Film

    The O.A. Bloxom, first named the Nora Phillips, was built in 1901 at the Marsh Shipyard on Solomons Island, Maryland. Changed to the O.A. Bloxom in the 1940's, she was rebuilt in 1948 at Deagle's Railway in Deltaville. The boat returned to Deagle's in 1991 for an overhaul. The Bloxom is discussed in Chapter 2, "The Switch from Sail to Power" as a bugeye converted to power in Larry Chowning's book Chesapeake Bay Buyboats, pages 42-43.

    The just completed Patricia Lynn, a Robert F. Green built Chesapeake Bay deadrise workboat. The 42' x 14' boat was built for A.C. Brookshire of Poquoson for gillnetting and patent tonging on the Chesapeake. It is powered by a 6-71 Detroit Diesel that drives a 22" x 16" propeller. Fuel capacity 100 gallons. VHF radio, depth sounder, 6' pilot house and 10' trunk cabin.

"Deagle’s Marine Railway has just finished a rebuilding job on the Virginia Sue, a 65-foot Chesapeake Bay-built deck boat owned and operated by New Jersey fishermen Marvin "Glenn" Armstrong. He’s using the Virginia Sue to fish in the Atlantic Ocean off the New Jersey coast."
