Larry Chowning took photos of Willard Norris building a 22' wooden skiff at his shop on Lovers Lane in Deltaville, VA. Norris was 78 at the time of this article. Pictures were included in Larry's story "A wooden boat holdout," National Fisherman, July, 2005, pages 32-33. Chowning quotes Norris about this boatbulding community in Deltaville: "I can take you right down the street," he says. "Lad Wright, Tom Wright, Rob Dudley, John Wright, Lewis Wright, Ed and Pete Deagle, Hugh Norris, Willie Marchant, Alfred Norris and myself all built boats right here on Lovers Lane." |
